60% of women who have been wearing a wrong bra size - are you one of them too? Without the proper knowledge and guidance of what a supportive, fitting bra is, I recently found out that I’ve been wearing bras in the wrong way, size, cup and fit for the past 11 years!
This is something I’ve never thought about - your bra size changes more often than you think! Apparently, our bra sizes aren’t like our height. It doesn’t stay the same once you reached the “peak” of your puberty, but can change because of various reasons - weight loss/gain, pregnancy, breastfeeding, post-breastfeeding, menopause and even exercise :O
Here’s my personal experience - I’ve been wearing a 38/85B for most of my life but “upgraded” to 40/90B ever since pregnancy. No professional bra fitting, no proper knowledge or guidance, I just went with whatever I felt comfortable in - as long as my breasts are in the cups and it fits around my bust! The trouble with being a 40/90B? It’s SO hard to find a bra in this size, and when I do - it’s either underwired, plain or crazy expensive. In the end, I usually settle for 38/85B bras which barely fits, and gives me a lot of underboob perspiration :(
After I stopped breastfeeding Gordon, a friend recommended Romensa bras to me - it changed my life so I want to share it with you too! Romensa has a variety of bra sizes ranging from 65A to 110G (with AND without padding), so I was spoilt for choice in choosing my bra design for the first time :’D
I ended up choosing the Chantelle Seamless Bra (3811) series because it suits my needs (I have widespread issues with my breasts), fits my wardrobe the best, and came in colours that I usually wear! Made with satin and soft elastic fiber, the European-inspired design is fashionable yet sexy at the same time ;) Another thing that I love is the use of environmentally-friendly foam and flinty cotton for the cups, giving it its ability to fit your curves and absorb moisture well! They are usually sold in a set of 2 or 3 (bra and panty included!), because Romensa bras are also shaping bras that helps to correct problems like sagging after breastfeeding, widespread issues and underarm bulge.
I’m so thankful to Shirley from Romensa for all her help and guidance in finding the right bra for me - after a month of trying out different sizes on my own, I met up with her for a measurement fitting and we eventually found out that my actual bra size is a 36/80A! You read that right, they don’t ignore you after sales is completed - Shirley was dedicated in helping me to find the perfect bra with the right fit for me, and advised me on how I was wearing bras wrong. Did you know that the right bra would give you an instant cleavage? If your bra doesn’t do that, you might be wearing the wrong size/fit. Here’s a comparison of the difference in fitting between my previous bra and the Romensa bra.
Other than the obvious cleavage, you can also see that the straps and lower band provide a lot more support so my breasts took the “bra elevator” from Basement 2 to Level 3 - which is where our natural breasts should be at. With the comparison photos with the wrap top on, you can see that they look more “balanced” with the Romensa bra whereas my previous bra almost makes it seem disheveled - a perfectly normal thing since breasts aren’t symmetrical, which is why your bra straps may not always be adjusted at the same length.
To make the comparison more obvious, I decided to take a photo of both bras on a hanger where the waist band and straps are adjusted to where I’d normally wear my bra - I was shocked to see how bad my previous bra was, there’s totally no way it could have been giving me good support.
No matter how old you are, Romensa is able to provide you with good support that your body needs - whether you’re a pre-teenager looking for a good start, or someone who loves lace and animal prints, you can definitely find something you like! Romensa bras are all wire-free, shaping bras which are specially made of environmentally-friendly materials like vertical aligned cotton, bamboo fabric and max foam - just to name a few. Shirley highly recommends that pre-teenagers get the right fitting bra with good support so that it wouldn't affect the body's development during puberty!
Before throwing out your old bra, cut open the cups and see what material it is made of! I snipped through the cups of my previous bra and found yellowed sponge inside, I could even see the discolouration from its normal colour to the dark yellow. Shirley said that this is actually normal because sponges would turn yellow over time, even if you’re not wearing it. Romensa bras do not use any sponge in their bra design, and a part of the materials used are actually from wood pulp!
